Symptoms of tachycardia vary and can include palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, and fatigue. In severe cases, tachycardia can result in complications like heart failure, fainting, or even sudden cardiac arrest. Treatment for tachycardia depends on its type, cause, and severity. For cases linked to physiological factors, managing stress, reducing stimulant intake, and addressing any underlying conditions may be sufficient. Pathological tachycardia may require medications to control heart rate or rhythm, such as beta-blockers or antiarrhythmics. In more severe cases, procedures like catheter ablation, cardioversion, or implantation of a pacemaker or defibrillator might be necessary. Accurate diagnosis through medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests like electrocardiograms is essential for effective treatment and management.
